Hondata
Hondata modifies standard OBD I Honda ECUs, adding features and expanding the capabilities of the ECU (to read boost for example).  For best results naturally aspirated ECUs should be tuned to each individual engine setup and forced induction ECUs need to be tuned by an experienced tuner.  If you have Stage 4 and the Pocket Programmer , you can tune stages 2 and 3 for others.

When purchasing a Hondata unit, we offer a base program to get you started.  From there we offer tuning services to help you get the most performance out of your Hondata unit based on individual applications.

The s300 uses different connecting pins in the ECU from the s100/s200, and also has a slot cut in the side for the USB connector, so the ECU must be modified for use with the s300. The s300 is made to fit in a full frame ECU case (US and most markets), so will not fit in a JDM ECU case.

USB Connection

The s300 uses a high speed USB connection for both programming calibrations and datalogging. No more USB/serial connectors!

Real-time Update

The s300 can be updated in real-time with the engine running without affecting the operation of the vehicle. This means that calibrations and changes can be uploaded to the ECU very quickly (2 seconds for a new calibration, a fraction of a second for anything else), without interrupting the operation of the engine. Changes made in the SManager software are uploaded to the ECU instantly and you can see the effect immediately. The s300 does not use an EEPROM or equivalent, so you never need to open the ECU to change chips nor 'burn' ROMs. No EPROM programmer is necessary - you just need a laptop with USB port.

Datalogging

The s300 has datalogging to the KManager software built in via the USB port. Using a laptop the various ECU sensors can be datalogged, viewed, graphed and saved for later analysis.

Additionally the s300 has on board flash memory which allows a datalog recordings to be made without a laptop, for later access and download to a laptop. Multiple recordings can be made and stored in the s300 for a total of around 40 minutes of total datalogging time. An external switch can be used to start and stop recordings, or engine conditions can trigger recording. For instance in a drag race, the s300 can be set to start recording once the rpm is bought up to near launch rpm and automatically stop once past the traps and the rpm drops below a certain level.

MAP Sensor Compatibility

Any linear MAP sensor can be used, using a scalar and offset to translate the MAP sensor characteristics into pressure. Popular MAP sensor settings are built in for easy of setup

Application Notes

  • Base maps are included only for K20A2, K20A3 (RSX Base), K20A3 (Civic SI) and K20A engines.
  • The 2002- CRV ECU (5 speed) (PPA -A0# ECU) can be used.
  • Support for the manual K20A3 engine and the secondary intake runner as used in the base model RSX and CRV. 
  • The Japanese PRD and PRC ECU do not support a fuel tank pressure sensor required for some US emissions tests, but will likely pass a tailpipe sniffer test if the catalytic converter is in place.
  • PNF, PPA and PND ECUs for 5 speed transmissions will not operate the reverse lock solenoid on 6 speed transmissions.
  • The K-Pro ECU will not work on Automatic vehicles.  Automatic ECUs cannot be converted to manual.
  • To use the K-Pro on a 2005-2006 RSX, an adapter harness is required, an 02-04 specially modified ECU must be modified for used and the primary oxygen sensor from an 03-04 must be used.
  • Turn around time is usually 2 days from the time it is received.

General Notes

  • From previous ECU's Honda has changed from 2 dimensional tables (engine speed and engine load) to 3 dimensional tables (engine speed, engine load and cam angle). The K-Pro ECU retains these 3 dimensional tables to ensure the engine is running at optimum efficiency and power for every cam angle.
  • The stock JDM and US O2 sensor is wide band and can read from 11.5:1 to 30:1 A/F ratios.
  • Most OBDII features may be disabled for race vehicles.
  • Error codes and the OBDII readiness status may be datalogged.
  • Base tables are supplied for the RSX Type S, RSX Base, Civic SI and Integra Type R engines. These tables have been dyno tuned.
  • No external programmer or other equipment is necessary. Just plug the ECU into a laptop via a USB cable.
  • Tables may be map-traced in real time.
  • The K-Pro ECU is not real-time updateable, however most changes to tables and settings can be uploaded in 1-2 seconds. 
  • The K-Pro ECU is a separate product from the s100/s200 line, and will not share the same options (e.g. 3 step) nor software (HondaLogger, RomEditor). All systems are fully programmable by the user. All K-Pro ECU systems include all features (e.g. boost, datalogging).

Hondata 4 bar Map sensors

The Hondata 4 bar map sensor is a plug compatible replacement for the Honda factory MAP sensor. It is a direct replacement for the B, D, H, F and K-series Honda engines. This plug in sensor takes less than 60 seconds to install and eliminates the risk of sensor damage that often occurs when attempting to wire in other types of MAP sensors. Settings are found in your Hondata s300/ KPRO unit Parameters under MAP.

Hondata Normally Closed Boost Controller

For use with the s300 and K-Pro, the Hondata normally closed boost control solenoid is designed for use in high boost applications, but also works well in low boost applications. It is normally closed so that if there is a failure you will run off the wastegate spring instead of over boosting.  It uses 1/8th NPT fittings which allow you to use NPT to AN fittings if you wish.
